Jaybird Passing Game

These plays were presented by Mitch Lee at the 2001 Texas Six Man Clinic. The plays are designed complement the strong running attack of the set.

This is quick hitting play that gets three receivers out into the pattern quickly. The play is designed to look like weak sweep. The QB opens to the weak side and sprints out to that side. The FB blocks first threat. The TB is available for a pitch. The Center runs a out. The Guard runs to the left upright of the goal post and the end runs down the back hash. The QB will read coverage on the run and pass or pitch.

Switch Option Left Center and guard switch routes

Option Right--

This is similar to option left. The end blocks, the guard runs an out, the center runs to the right upright, and the FB runs down the hash. The TB still is a pitch option.

3 Pass--

This is a basic drop back. In the Jaybird the QB backpedals and should be ready to pass at any time. The routes are called by the coach. The backs pass protect.
